"Paper Planes" is a song written and recorded by British hip hop artist M.I.A. for her second studio album, Kala (2007). After the song was featured in the popular 2008 films Pineapple Express and Slumdog Millionaire, it received increasing attention in the US. It peaked at number four on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming MIA’s first top 10 hit at the time.
