"Smoke on the Water" is a song by the English rock band Deep Purple. It was first released on May 1973 as the fourth single from their sixth studio album "Machine Head" (1972). The band members have said that they did not expect the song to be a hit, but the single reached number 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in Jluy 28, 1973.
