"Early in the Morning" is a song originally performed by The Gap Band in 1982. Robert Palmer recorded a cover version in 1988, which was released in October that year as the third single from his ninth studio album, Heavy Nova. The single peaked at number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100 on December 17, 1988.
