It was originally released on December 20, 1976, as the B-side to the single "Go Your Own Way", the lead single from their eleventh studio album Rumours (1977). A live version of "Silver Springs" was released on July 22, 1997 as a single from the band's 1997 album The Dance. The song peaked at number 6 on the Vitrola Stereo's TOP15 on November 29, 1997.
