"Rivers of Babylon" is a Rastafari song written and recorded by Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton of the Jamaican reggae group The Melodians in 1970. The song was re-popularised by the Boney M. cover. It was released in April 3, 1978 as the lead single from their third studio album "Nightflight to Venus". The song peaked the UK singles chart in May 13, 1978 and stayed at the no. 1 position for five weeks. and peaked at #30 in the Billboard Hot 100.
