"Cruel Summer" is a song recorded by the English girl group Bananarama in 1983. In 1998 Swedish pop group Ace of Base include it in their third album "Cruel Summer". It was released on July 14, 1998, as the lead single from the album. The song peaked at number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 22, 1998 and at numer 8 on the OK Official Chart on October 10, 1998 .
