"A contratiempo" is the first single released by the Spanish singer Ana Torroja in her solo career, following the separation of Mecano. It is a Spanish version of "Bottomless" by Bette Midler (1997). The song was included on her album "Puntos Cardinales," which was published on July 5, 1997. The song quickly gained popularity and reached number one in Spain and Mexico. In the US, it climbed to #22 on the Billboard Latin Singles Chart.
On Vitrola Stereo's TOP15 the song peaked at nunber one on October 4, 1997, remaining on the top for five weeks.
