Misunderstood History Of The Two-Dollar Bill in America

The much-maligned, misunderstood two-dollar bill has set out to erase public misconceptions by agreeing to star in a self-titled documentary film.

"The Two Dollar Bill Documentary" will be the first film of its kind to lift the curtain on what makes the "deuce" unique in our culture, and now the filmmakers have arrived in Fort Worth to film the latest print run of twos at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

South Florida filmmaker John Bennardo is helming the production of this documentary, and believes it's about time the public came to understand the Two.  "Most people don't even know the two dollar bill exists," said Bennardo. "This film will answer questions about why the bill is hoarded, assumed lucky and rarely seen in society."  Bennardo has already interviewed superstition experts, historians, numismatists and special interest groups, and now brings the production to the BEP for an exclusive look at the five stages of the bill's creation.  All of it will help make up the narrative for the film, which should be completed in late 2014.

Using Kickstarter, Bennardo has created a fundraising campaign for his audience to become part of the film and share unique stories of their own encounters with the two-dollar bill.  Unlike most crowdfunding projects, Bennardo's offers a chance to have viewers submit stories, pictures and/or a short video to appear in the film. If you want to be a part of it though, you only have until November 9.
